The three-day national conference of All Indian Regional Rural Bank Employees Association (AIRRBEA) kick started on Sunday. AIRRBEA is a coordinating body of the National Federation of Regional Rural Bank Officers (NFRRBO) and National Federation of Regional Rural Bank Employees (NFRRBE). A large number of members and office bearers of the associations participated in the 13th triennial conference taking place at the American College campus. Apart from the functionaries, eminent economists and bankers from across the nation are also taking part in the conference. The organisers of the conference said that issues pertaining to international, national and regional rural banking scenario will be discussed in the conference. Key persons from various banking sectors will be attending the conference to discuss suitable solutions for the prevailing issues. The conference would also take up organisational matters to formulate future action programme to suit the need of the Regional Rural Bank (RRB) staff in particular. A joint statement by the organisers said that the main demands of the conference include opposing privatization of RRBs by scrapping the amendment bill 2015 of the RRB Act, stopping the migration of rural deposits to urban areas by establishing rural credit with State Level Rural Banks under it and delinking of RRBs from sponsor banks and providing total autonomy.
